Network-Member Nils Riecken participates as contributing author to the book launch of Contemporary Moroccan Thought: On Philosophy, Theology, and Culture (Brill 2025, pp. 793). Contemporary Moroccan Thought opens a new chapter in understanding Moroccan and North African intellectual history. It shines a spotlight on the Rabat School, a key center for modern Arab scholarship that has grown in influence since the 1950s. Morocco, situated at the crossroads of North Africa and the Arab world, has emerged as a significant voice on the global academic stage, contributing extensively to philosophy, theology, sociology, and cultural studies.

This event, which is organized by the The Divan – The Arabic Cultural House in cooperation with the Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO), will feature editor Dr. Mohammed Hashas, alongside contributing authors Dr. Raja Rhouni, who will join via video link from Morocco, and Dr. Nils Riecken. Moderated by Sonja Hegasy, Deputy Director of the Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO), this book launch event promises a rich exploration of the themes and ideas within the book which embodies a thought-provoking anthology that covers the dynamic evolution of Moroccan intellectual life.
